Little Boy Blue

My usually sunny Boy Wonder has been blue of late. Oh, he eats, he plays, he sleeps and seems generally fine to the outside eye, but I have that mama sixth sense about it. He's more wistful, less inclined to laugh, and needs me more. I don’t know if he’s just worn out with school or finding life’s rules too difficult to cope with or getting sick. Maybe he’s just finally had it with that mean little girl he's had to sit next to in kindergarten all year. At any rate, we’re trying to give him some positive attention and a little extra boost these days.

Who is it that said, “A parent can only be as happy as her least happy child.”?

THAT. That is wisdom.

We went through a similar experience with McLean last Fall. He was being mopey, whiney and clingy. He was unmotivated and discouraged at school. Needless to say I was freaking out. I had meetings with the teacher and tried to dissect his little brain. Just when I thought we would need to get professional help he was back. No more pitiful, no more moping. He was happy again. Then the teacher told me that he was reading up a storm, excelling in math and playing with lots of kids. He'd had a developmental breakthrough. I think it's a lot like a chick pecking out of it's shell. It's hard work and puts you in a mood. Maybe Timmy is about to have a big delelopmental breakthrough. Hang in there. He'll be fine(-:

Thanks for the encouraging words. And the allusion to chicks--there are alot of life lessons in chicken behavior! Glad to hear that Boy Wonder isn't the only one who's had the blues.
