I played cards with Boy Wonder last night, and what do you know, rampant and obvious cheating is no longer an integral part of his game plan. We had an orderly game of crazy eights, then a protracted game of war, and ALL THE RULES WERE DUTIFULLY FOLLOWED. This is a major milestone on the road to rational and mature behavior. Past card games have ended on a sour note when he (a) freely admitted to stealing all the trick cards; (b) surreptitiously hid cards he did not want in the sofa cushions; or (c) utterly failed to follow any rules whatsoever. Last night's card games were a pleasant surprise.
