Is anyone else amused with the unbelievable number of rules posted in Oak Ridge, Tennessee? Oh, I totally get the reason for the rules posted around the government weapons facility. What I'm talking about are the rules posted EVERYWHERE ELSE.
Here's what we found recently at the Oak Ridge Arboretum, with our dog and a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken* in tow.
And, being good little rule-followers, as we went to turn the car around:
Sheesh.
I'm going to start to keep a record.
* Classy, huh?

Hilarious. I have never noticed this. Maybe when you grow up there, you just get used to either following them or ignoring them.
The arboretum rules might have been a blessing in disguise. We have a friend who went for an "I'm-bored" two-hour hike there at about this time last year and found EIGHTEEN ticks on him when he got home.
I hate ticks.
I don't know when I started noticing all the posted rules in OR, but it's been a while. I think it may be the presence of so many engineers--regimented orderly types.
Ticks, gah.
Definitely regimented. Streets in alphabetical order and all! It's a cool place to grow up, but then kind of supremely weird to try to explain to people who aren't familiar with it.
Next time you go, don't forget the wine.
