The Part Where We Shaved the Dog

We've recently had a lot of hot weather here in East Tennessee, and our Newfoundland, Posy, has given up all activities other than panting. She doesn't want to eat. She doesn't want to play. She doesn't want to move.

Panting. That's it.

Hot weather is hard on a Newfoundland. Really, I'm not sure we could have found a dog more ill-suited for East Tennessee. A St. Bernard, maybe.

On Friday, the Spouse finally took pity on Posy and had her shaved. She looks like a totally new dog. Check it out:

AFTER:
I call this her Nancy Reagan look: enormous head, teeny-tiny body. There's just not all that much to Posy under all those layers of fur. Rather than the big, bulky bear-like creature we suspected, Posy is built like a hound-dog, leggy and lean.

Unfortunately, she still lays around panting most of the day.

I'm thinking a kiddie pool may be the answer.
