Currently Reading: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

After a long dry spell of little to read but the blindingly tiny font on my Blackberry, I'm reading the second book in Suzanne Collins's young adult series, The Hunger Games.

Given The Hunger Games' futuristic take on the evils of a powerful central government and the importance of individual rights, I'm guessing that even if Ms. Collins is not a Tea Partier, she has some background in political science. And the series would provide an excellent springboard for middle-school classroom discussion of government and civil rights. Or Shakespeare: "[I]t is excellent to have a giant’s strength; but it is tyrannous to use it like a giant."
